Кріоконсервування ооцитів людини методом вітрифікації увійшло в щоденну практику допоміжних репродуктивних технологій у боротьбі з безпліддям та збереженні репродуктивного потенціалу жінки. Огляд літератури вмістив результати досліджень, виконаних протягом останніх 25 років представниками різних наукових шкіл; історичні передумови розробки технології кріоконсервування ооцитів людини за допомогою вітрифікації; особливості та складнощі, які виникають під час її реалізації; медичні та соціальні показники збереження фертильності. Особливу увагу приділено питанням генетичної безпеки вказаного методу щодо здоров’я майбутніх нащадків. У статті викладено погляд на вирішення проблем вітрифікації ооцитів людини та визначено шляхи їх подолання.
